Yellowbell, at The Island House, is one of our favourite places for exactly that. It's stylish without making a production of it, with the kind of comfortable atmosphere that works just as well for a casual client meeting as it does for lunch with a colleague.

Come with an agenda if you must. Just leave a little room for the conversation to wander.

2. Dune at The Ocean Club

For the client who's visiting The Bahamas, or the lunch worth celebrating.

Set at The Ocean Club on Paradise Island, the restaurant has that rare combination of a beautiful setting and a genuine sense of occasion. The ocean views certainly don't hurt.

We like it for hosting an international client, celebrating a milestone or taking someone somewhere that captures a little of what makes The Bahamas extraordinary. It's a reminder that even when you're talking business, you don't have to forget where you are.

3. Social House Sushi & Grill

For sushi, a lively table and a good catch-up.

Some business lunches are best conducted across a table full of shared dishes.

Social House is our pick when we're in the mood for sushi and a more energetic atmosphere. It's contemporary, social and easy to settle into, particularly when you're meeting someone you already know.

This is less about a formal presentation and more about catching up, exchanging ideas and seeing where the conversation goes. Order a few favourites for the table and get comfortable.

4. Café Matisse

For a downtown lunch with character.

With its colourful surroundings and charming courtyard, it feels a world away from the bustle outside. It's one of those restaurants that has a personality of its own, which makes it a natural choice when you want to take a client somewhere a little more intimate.

We especially love it for a leisurely lunch in the heart of town. It's the sort of place where you can talk property, business or absolutely anything else, and not feel the need to rush back out the door.

5. Island Brothers & Cie

For a little French flair in the middle of the workday.

Island Brothers & Cie brings a different energy to the Nassau lunch circuit. There's a distinctly European sensibility to the experience, but it still feels easygoing and familiar.

It's a lovely choice when you want a business lunch that feels more like meeting a friend. Somewhere to enjoy good food, settle into a conversation and perhaps forget about your inbox for an hour.

Anyone who lives in Nassau knows that location matters when making lunch plans. If your day has you in the east, there's little reason to spend half of it driving across the island.

Wild Thyme is one of our favourites for a relaxed midweek lunch in eastern New Providence. It has an inviting atmosphere that works for a client catch-up, a conversation with a colleague or simply a proper break between appointments.

Sometimes the best lunch spot is the one that lets you enjoy the meal without reorganising your entire day around it.

7. Drifters at the Fish Fry

For fried fish, scorched conch and a proper Bahamian lunch.

Forget the formal dining room. Head to Arawak Cay, pull up a chair at Drifters and order something that tastes like home. For us, that usually means fried fish or scorched conch.

It's a favourite for a casual lunch, particularly when we're hosting someone who wants to experience Nassau beyond the usual hotel restaurants. There's no need to dress it up. Good Bahamian food, good company and a little fresh air are more than enough.

Besides, some of the best conversations happen over a plate of fish, "fry dry".

A little more than lunch

One of the things we love about Nassau is that there's no single way to enjoy it. You can have an elegant lunch overlooking the ocean, disappear into a downtown courtyard or spend an afternoon at the Fish Fry. Each experience tells you something different about the island.
